Barry Callebaut’s Thys Will Take On COO Role Following Delaunay’s Departure At Yearend


Zurich, Switzerland — Barry Callebaut Group COO Olivier Delaunay, who has held the position since September 1, 2019, is leaving the company at the end of the year. The board of directors has appointed the company’s current President Asia Pacific and member of the Executive Committee, Jo Thys, as new COO, effective January 1, 2023.

Thys, a Belgian national, has been President Asia Pacific and a member of the Group’s executive committee since July 2021 and has worked for the company for 25 years. The company reports that under his leadership the region accelerated its growth and expanded its operational footprint to Australia.

“Olivier successfully accomplished what he set out to as COO, which is that our network of factories continues to offer our customers more cost effective solutions delivered in a reliable way. I wish Olivier all the best in his future steps,” says Peter Boone, CEO of Barry Callebaut Group.

The company is currently seeking a replacement to serve as President Asia Pacific.
