Candy Is A Top Choice For Dollar Store Shoppers

Cleveland — More than 50 percent of consumers say they purchase candy when shopping at dollar stores. According to a recent survey by Static Media’s Mashed.com, 55.62 percent of respondents chose candy from among a list that included such products as popcorn and soda when asked which items they prefer to buy at the discount channel.

Soda and instant noodles also ranked well among participants at 13.53 percent and 10.64 percent, respectively. These were followed by nuts, which earned 9.27 percent; popcorn, which received 5.78 percent; and bread, at 5.17 percent. 

Mashed.com also noted Reddit commenters have discussed the types of candy they like to buy from dollar stores, with one user writing: “I stock up on gummies, Bit-O-Honeys and Chick-O-Sticks at Dollar Tree.” Another commenter had a special dollar store sweets preference: “Peanut rolls are my favorite dollar store candy. So salty and peanutty and nougaty.”

A total of 658 respondents across the U.S. were a part of the survey, Mashup.com reports.
