Edmondson Recognized With 2022 Woman Of Influence Award

Chicago — Upon receiving the 2022 NCA Women’s Leadership Group (WLG) Woman of Influence award, Emily Edmondson, sales director at Galerie USA, LLC, said that she was in “total shock.”

“Knowing that it was voted on by my peers means so much to me,” Edmondson told Candy & Snack TODAY. “There are so many individuals across both WLG and the industry itself who have influenced me to speak up, promote change and increase the amount of seats at the collective table.”

In presenting Edmondson with the award last night during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Shelly Clarey, founding chair of the Women’s Leadership Group, said: “Emily’s commitment, sense of humor and inclusive spirit have made her a positive influence within the industry and a dear friend to many. She is someone people want to be around, to learn from and work alongside.”

Clarey, vice-president of sales and marketing at Adams & Brooks, Inc., went on to say that Edmondson embodies the mentorship, leadership and empowerment this award was designed to recognize.

Edmondson noted that from the moment of its inception, she felt very passionate about the WLG and that organizations like it will help break down the walls between competing retailers, brokers and manufacturers.

“WLG is a living example of how lifting each other up means that we all rise,” she said. “So much of our everyday life experience is very similar, and when you find a community that you relate to, it allows for learning and dialogue so necessary but often overlooked.”

The award honors a woman in the confectionery industry who has demonstrated superior leadership and industry mentorship and has a proven record of growth, success and influence. Libby Taylor, former NCA vice-president of meetings and membership, was the award’s first recipient in 2021.

An active part of the industry for many years, Edmondson has participated in Washington D.C. Forum events as a company advocate with government representatives. She has also led the NCA State of the Industry planning committee, which she noted as a highlight of her career so far.
