Everyday, Seasonal Candy Sales Continue Upward Trajectory

Washington — Total U.S. candy sales are up 4.3 percent since March 15, according to new IRI data from NCA, which also reports overall Halloween candy sales have increased 8.6 percent and seasonal chocolates have seen 12.2 percent gains since October 4.

Since midway through March, total chocolate has been lifted 5.7 percent, while non-chocolate has experienced gains of 2 percent, according to the Association.  

The sales gains track with expect high levels of participation for Halloween, with 96 percent of parents planning to celebrate in some way and 65 percent say they will participate in trick-or-treating, according to seasonal surveys from NCA and Party City. Additionally, 74 percent of millennial moms and young parents say Halloween 2020 is more important than ever.
