Hershey Kicks Off Super Hero Bar Launch With Donation To Front Line Workers

Hershey, PA — The Hershey Co. says it is initiating its launch of DC Super Hero milk chocolate bars by sharing bars “with real super heroes — those at the front lines.” DC Comics, Inc. and Hershey came together to develop the product, with on-pack graphics of the Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

According to the company, “sharing the bars with those on the front lines is a small gesture for their heroic efforts during these unprecedented times.”

The product will be distributed in the Philadelphia, Memphis, Los Angeles, New York City, Detroit, New Orleans and Dallas markets, all chosen because they have been hit hard by the pandemic, the company notes.

The bars will be available at retail starting in July in 9.45-ounce miniatures window bags and 2.25-ounce packs that hold five 0.45-ounce bars. They carry SRPs of $1.09 and $4.19, respectively. The bars are moulded with the iconic logos of the four featured super heroes.

Hershey notes it has donated millions in cash and product to benefit community safety and a variety of healthcare organizations, and in response to needs for PPE surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is currently setting up a manufacturing line dedicated to producing personal protection face masks.

“Supporting our communities in difficult times is part of our legacy, and an important value that our current employees share,” said Michele Buck, president and CEO. “From the building projects that created local jobs during the Great Depression, to producing military rations during World War II, we take great pride in making a difference where we can.”
