Cleveland — The 75th Annual Kettle Awards have been postponed for the second time and are now scheduled for May 2022, according to BNP Media.
Citing an appreciation for support and feedback from key stakeholders in the Kettle community, BNP Group Publisher Chris Luke wrote in an email announcing the postponement: “The 75th Annual Kettle Awards will now be taking place in May 2022 in Chicago, IL, during the week of the Sweets and Snacks Expo.”
“We are sad and disappointed to see that the Kettle Awards won’t be taking place in conjunction with the Sweets & Snacks Expo this year as they are a beloved part of the show experience,” John Downs, president & CEO of NCA, says. “We’re looking forward to honoring our distinguished industry colleagues at the 2022 ceremony in Chicago.”
The postponement of the Kettle Awards comes as attendance for the 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo continues to gain momentum. More than 1,500 retail buyers and category managers have registered to attend, according to the show’s website. With a $7 million investment in health and safety from the city of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Convention Center has upgraded all of its air filtration, cleaning and sanitation systems, making it a prime location to host the 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo.
“With the rapid rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, we’re optimistic that most, if not all, of the show’s attendees will have the opportunity to receive the vaccine before the show begins in three months,” Downs says. “Our retail attendees feel similarly, and very shortly, we will begin sharing testimonials from some of our most valued retail partners to that effect. Together, we’re making our way to Indianapolis in a way that will be safe, provide great value to exhibitors and attendees and get us back to business.”
The 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo will take place June 23 to 25, with a pre-show day on June 22, which will include the Most Innovative New Product Award presentations and the first ever Supplier Showcase, according to NCA.
