Austin, TX — Lammes Candies is returning five months after its family owners announced the confectionery company would close following 141 years in business.

Fort Worth, TX-based Delightful Development Co. has acquired the company in partnership with the Lammes family and is relaunching the brand with several of its best-known products for the holiday season. The Lammes family will remain involved in the transition.

Preorders opened September 29 for Sherbet Mints, Longhorns, and Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines. The products will be offered in a final limited run of the company’s legacy packaging, with nationwide shipping beginning November 1.

Founded in 1885, Lammes Candies remained under family ownership for five generations and developed a catalog of more than 1,000 products. Its confections were produced at the company’s Austin factory, which opened in 1956.

Delightful Development co-founders Craig Cavileer and Kayla Wilkie-Kinne approached the Lammes family following the April closure announcement. The new owners say they intend to maintain the company’s recipes, handcrafted production methods, ingredients, and quality standards while eventually introducing new products.

“Lammes Candies is more than a confection and candy company,” says Wilkie-Kinne. “It’s a significant piece of Texas history that Craig and I will honor, preserve and celebrate with future generations of Texans and customers around the country. Our vision isn’t to change what Lammes Candies is known for. It’s to bring back the legacy recipes, traditions and heritage that made Lammes so special for 141 years, while we introduce new artisanal chocolates and candies for the next 141 years.”

The company has also enlisted Austin-based creative firm McGarrah Jessee to work on new packaging, a redesigned website, and social media strategy. A broader Lammes Candies relaunch featuring a refreshed brand identity and packaging is planned for spring 2027.
