Murnane Companies’ Grodecki Given NCA Advocate Of The Year Award

Aventura, FL — NCA named Mike Grodecki, CEO of The Murnane Companies, as its 2022 Advocate of the Year, which recognizes an individual who has gone above and beyond in ensuring the confectionery industry has a seat at the table in Washington and in state- and local-level politics. This marks the first time someone from the supplier community has received this award.

In introducing the award, Peter Rowan, of Mars, Inc., said: “Mike is the embodiment of what engaged suppliers can contribute when our industry sits down to discuss issues impacting the entire confectionery category with policymakers. I am thrilled to see supplier members helping to advance our advocacy efforts in Washington, DC.”

Brian McKeon, senior vice-president of public policy at NCA, pointed out that Grodecki took time during the 2021 Washington Forum to share his perspective on the U.S. sugar program. “His position as a supplier and enthusiasm for the issue helped drive the point home with lawmakers time and time again that it’s to the benefit of the entire supply chain to take a closer look at reforms to the U.S. sugar program.,” he said.

During the four years he’s been with Murnane Companies, Grodecki has had a record of understanding the importance of building, supporting the CandyPAC, maintaining and nurturing relationships with members of Congress, setting and communicating clear policy positions and building the industry brand in Washington DC in order to protect and grow the category he supplies.

Grodecki was presented with an American flag that had been flown above the U.S. Capitol building and gifted by his Congressman, Representative Mike Quigley of Illinois’ fifth district.
