York, PA — Meiji America Inc. is adding caramel flavor to its Hello Panda filled snacks, which feature a crunchy outer cracker shell and a creamy caramel center. The bite-size treats are shaped to resemble the panda mascot and each shell is printed with illustrations of pandas enjoying more than 30 sports.
Caramel becomes the U.S. market’s first original Hello Panda flavor and is exclusive to U.S. retailers. “We wanted to create a flavor that had the potential to be a close second to chocolate in terms of consumer appeal and sales volume,” says Ken Vlazny, senior vice-president of sales and marketing. “Meiji Hello Panda Caramel went through several rounds of testing and flavor refinement, and the flavor we are introducing has tested extremely well with consumers.”
The product is available in the brand’s iconic hexagonal 2.1-ounce boxes with a SRP of $1.39, standard 2.2-ounce pillow bag with a SRP $1.39, hexagonal 8-ct 0.75-ounce multi-pack boxes with a SRP of $3.59, and standup seven-ounce pouches with a SRP of $3.49.
Other flavors in the line are chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and matcha green tea.
