Mars Wrigley Brings Back Lime To Original, Sour Skittles Packs

Mars Wrigley is bringing lime candies back to packs of original Skittles. The green candies were part of the mix from 1979 through 2013 when they were replaced with green apple flavor.  

The company says that since the flavor was retired consumers have carried on a debate online over which flavor should hold the green position, which the majority proclaiming lime the favorite. In fact, the company claims there have been more than 130,000 mentions from fans on social talking about Skittles Lime.

“It’s no secret that lime has been a hot topic for Skittles fans since we replaced them with green apple back in 2013. Green apple has had a good run, but the fans have spoken and it’s time for lime to return to the rainbow,” says Fernando Rodrigues, Mars Wrigley senior brand manager. “What better way to bring better moments to our loyal fans, than with the return of the most asked about flavor? The joy of lime can’t be denied anymore. It is back. This time for good.” 

Both Original and Sour packs of Skittles will now contain orange, lemon, grape, strawberry and lime. The new assortment will begin hitting shelves this fall in a full range of pack sizes including 1.8-ounce singles and 3.6-ounce share sizes.
