R.M. Palmer Lends Staff To Food Bank, Donates Product To Local Programs

West Reading, PA — Looking to give back to its community, R.M. Palmer Co. recently donated  product to both the local Helping Harvest food bank and Meal On Wheels program. The company notes that as a long-time member of the Berks County, Pennsylvania community it wants to support local organizations serving those in need.

“We anticipated there would not only be needs for protocols and procedures here at our manufacturing facilities, but there would be significant needs throughout the community,” says Mark Schlott, Palmer COO.  “We believe businesses have a responsibility to assist their local communities, especially during difficult times.”

While the company donated a truckload of candy to Helping Harvest, the only food bank serving Pennsylvania’s Berks and Schuylkill counties, it went a step further by providing two full-time workers from among employee volunteers. According to the company, the food bank was in need of staffing help to meet the growing demand brought on by COVID-19 and R.M. Palmer team members were able to step in to operate a forklift and pallet jack and take orders.

“We could not be more proud of them,” says Schlott. “Our companies and businesses have to stand together and assist our non-profits that are truly meeting the needs of the community. It’s everybody’s responsibility.”

In addition to the food bank donation, the company provided Easter treats to Berks Encore Meals On Wheels recipients.

R.M. Palmer has also donated candy to local area hospitals for front line medical personnel and contributed 300 N95 masks to local law enforcement.
