Sanders Candy Partners With Local Radio Station To Support Heroes Initiative

Clinton Township, MI — Sanders and Morley Candy has partnered with Detroit-based radio station WJR to recognize the efforts of front line workers in the fight against COVID-19. As part of the WJR Heroes Initiative, which highlights stories of support and gratitude for those working the front lines of COVID-19, the radio station is selecting one special hero from the Detroit community every business day to receive a $100 gift basket filled with Sanders products.

The program is currently scheduled to run through the end of May and encourages station listeners to nominate individuals for recognition via its Instagram and Twitter accounts using the hashtag #wjrheroes. Accordign to the station, they are looking to recognize retail store clerks, delivery persons, grocery food manufacturers, nurses, doctors, paramedics, and other vital service provider. “As a brand that has been serving Detroit for so many years we just wanted to say thank you to all of those frontline workers and let them know how much they are appreciated,” notes Lori Kellie, Sanders vice-president of production.

In addition to the WJR Heroes Initiative, Sanders Candy, along with its sister company Kar’s Nuts has launched the Kar’s Cares team. This initiative, the company notes, has been supporting front line workers with nutritious snacks and treats. The company recently donated a pallet of Sanders Bumpy Cakes, a local favorite, to Henry Ford Hospital.

To date, the company says it has donated more than 140,000 snacks and treats to food banks and hospitals in the metro Detroit community working in part through its charitable partners, including Gleaners Community Food Bank and Forgotten Harvest food bank.
